The Utility Field Services division of the Department of Utilities consists of approximately 37 employees. These people are responsible for maintaining over 500 miles of water mainlines and over 250 miles of sewer mainlines. There are almost 12,000 valves and 3,800 fire hydrants that are maintained. We also maintain over 24,000 water services, 24,000 water meters and 15,000 sewer connections.
Our division has EPA certified operators. The division's mechanic provides maintenance for vehicles and equipment for most of the Utility Department. We have engineering staff that is responsible for inspections, marking digging locations for OUPS and keeping the records necessary to run the division. We also support the Customer Service division by providing representatives during business hours and after hours service calls and emergencies.
