GenNext is a workforce development program created by the City of Lima. GenNext equips youth with experiences and skills necessary for today's workforce. Youth will complete pre-employment training and participate in the Internship Fair before being placed in a paid summer internship position. GenNext is open to youth 16-24 who are residents of the City of Lima and do not have a post-secondary degree.
Employers agree to participate in the GenNext Internship Fair on March 16, 2024 and will interview youth who have matched with that business. Employers also agree to employ at least one youth for at least 8 weeks for at least 20 hours a week between June 1, 2024 and August 30, 2024.
If your business needs assistance in meeting the wages of the GenNext internships and you employee in-demand jobs as identified by the Governor's Office of Workforce Transformation, please complete the GenNext Employer Grant application. Funds are to be used for GenNext youth intern wages only.
